NCAVA To Dissolve March 31, 2025

It is with a mixture of gratitude and regret that we write to inform you of an important decision regarding the future of NCAVA. After careful consideration, the Board of Directors has decided to dissolve the organization, effective March 31, 2025.

This decision was not made lightly. For more than 50 years, NCAVA has been dedicated to excellence in volunteer management. As one of the first professional associations for volunteer managers in the country, NCAVA served as a catalyst for transformative leadership and innovation, fostered inclusive engagement and meaningful impact, and empowered volunteer managers with knowledge and resources. However, due to dwindling interest In NCAVA as gauged by difficulties in recruiting new board members, fewer local affiliates organized across the state, and reduced members seeking certification, the board has determined that it is no longer feasible to continue operating.

We want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support, participation, and commitment to NCAVA over the past years.  Your contributions have been instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission, and we are incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together. We continue to work with partners both locally and nationally to help ensure that while NCAVA is ending, there are still resources available to support those working professionally to engage and support volunteers.

As we proceed with the dissolution process, we will:

  1. Ensure all remaining organizational obligations are met responsibly.

  2. Provide further information to members who wish to maintain their certification.

  3. Be responsive to any questions or concerns you may have during this transition.

If you have any outstanding concerns or questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us at president@ncava.net  or vpprofessionaldevelopment@ncava.net.

Although NCAVA is ending after 50 years of service to North Carolina, we hope that the relationships and experiences built through this community will continue to thrive in new and meaningful ways. Thank you once again for being a part of our journey. Your trust and involvement have meant more than words can express.

With gratitude and best wishes,

Warm regards,

Vanessa Miller
